My personal project was my favorite because it was a reflection of my life.
The title is “OMGoodnees of my life” to establish that it is crazy but good and fun. I used acrylic paints and old toys from my childhood directly in my work. The canvas dimensions are 18x24 to try and make it look as big as possible. I wanted to show my life to the world if I could I would have just painted the earth. Choosing to represent this is representing me to the world. The art I make is what art was in my mind, when I sat down and thought what I wanted to do I knew I wanted to make something unlike anyone else. When I look at my piece next to all the others it really looks different. I’m an individual with my own personal ideas, the painting shows how I have grown up. Objects like pogs I found in old toy boxes from my childhood. I wanted to always remember these memories and by sticking them on a project that means a lot to my life right now I will be able to look back at it and know that that’s my life. I had to get a grade in school and I can really make a mess so I just did what I knew. It was a personal project that was the critique so I went really in to my life and pulled out personal stuff. My own toys would be the picture I created and I like every color and I wanted to incorporate everything together.
All the elements of this piece are just messy and I did this because at this time in my life I have a whole world to explore and deal with. So I wanted to have something that I could make better. Like I have a whole life ahead of me with plenty of time to get better and this start of art that represents where I came from and what my life began like. At first when I wanted to paint I wanted to make the coolest looking thing anyone had ever seen. Then I realized that truly the coolest thing ever was the big bang that created all life. All the great beautiful life started at the beginning and I wanted to paint that. Then I started to think well everyone thinks different why should I try to make them think what I think. That just does not make sense trying to change people, but I could always change myself. So I should start with the beginning and realize who I really am, what does my mind make when I don’t think. My big bang picture turned in to a beautiful mess. Then when I looked at it, it really got personal and I wanted to represent how personal it was. So I went into my toy boxes and found some stuff I always want to remember and put them right into my personal project. At first I felt like I could paint forever and never be finished. Then I see what I had created and it was my life, it was personal. It was such a good feeling to have completed something, and now I know that personally I can complete anything I want.
There is nothing more I can say.
