2.A still life of personal objects. Work in acrylic paint; emphasize color, shape, and arrangement. Design your composition using hard edge technique and using flat colors. Choose a specific color scheme.

3. Create a super close up self-portrait. Use your choice of paint. Examine one aspect of your face very closely. Work in high contrast and emphasize a specific color scheme.

4. Create a silhouette portrait using elements of visual culture. This artwork should be a combination of mixed media and collage, using found objects from current culture. This might include candy wrappers, fast food bags, product labels, magazine ads, junk mail, etc.

5. Create a mixed media self -portrait. Combine paint and drawing media.

6. Create a  facial study using acrylic paint. Work thickly and loosely in an "ala prima" style. Research "ala prima" to ensure that you understand what it means.

7. Create a portrait of someone that illustrates an emotion. Use any paint or drawing media to emphasize an emotional quality such as depression, anger, happiness, joy, confusion, etc. Consider how color or line can convey an emotion. Research the works of Kathe Kollwicz for expressive line work and the art of the German Expressionist school for color.

8. Create a reflective self -portrait. Use any drawing media. Show yourself from the back and reflected in a mirror. Emphasize shadows and values.

9. Create a figure drawing using white lines on a black ground. Use black paper and chalk.
10. Create a mixed media self portrait of your "inner self." You get to define what this means to you.

12. Create a close up portrait of someone you know. Use soft pastel or oil pastel. Emphasize your model's vulnerability.
