Vellum/Bristol board
Vocabulary: repeat, combine, disguise, mythologize, pattern,
motif, space, shape, texture, symbols.
Project: From a selected theme, make a line drawing of a figure (Try a figure you may not have used before).
Divide the background space and parts of the image into smaller increments.
Fill up to 90% ninety percent of the shapes with different decorative patterns but allow some shapes to remain un-textured. Patterns tend to disguise images and flatten pictorial space. Combining different shapes, patterns, textures with different media, scale should be a key element as well. Reading: DCA, Chapter 6, Colston, pp. 22-23, pp. 62-74
